The two functions of catchbasins are to:
a) Remove water off the streets and into the infrastructure below grade.
b) Hold pollution in their sump
Unfortunately, most things caught in the sump can easily be stirred up and washed downstream.
What is a SHIELD?
CB Shield is a catch basin insert. As the name suggests, it shields the sediment and grit found in the sump of the catchbasin from being washed out.
HOW DOES IT
WORK?
CB Shield inserts are placed into catchbasins to prevent scour. The top slope of the shield deflects the flow of water to the back wall of the catchbasin while the grates allow water to flow over the top and exit the outlet pipe. Sediment falls between the slots.

NEW CONSTRUCTION
CB shield can be installed in a variety of sump depths using an adjustable leg for height. For new catchbasins you might consider a 1200mm sump for greater storage capacity.

CB Shield helps control heavy sediment runoff during construction.
And won't plug up like filter cloth. It can then stay in the catchbasin post construction or be reinstalled at the next jobsite.
